Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Transformatif: Menuju Warga Negara Berpikir Politis
Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji urgensi pengembangan pendidikan kewarganegaraan transformatif di Indonesia, dengan mengintegrasikan pendekatan berpikir politis (thinking politically). Melalui metode desk research terhadap dokumen kebijakan, kurikulum nasional, dan literatur akademik, penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa pendidikan kewarganegaraan di Indonesia belum mampu menjelaskan secara komprehensif realitas politik yang kompleks pasca dua dekade reformasi. Dominasi pendekatan kognitif-teoritis dalam ruang kelas menjadi salah satu faktor mengapa pendidikan kewarganegaraan tidak cukup memadai untuk memahami bagaimana proses demokratisasi hari ini membetuk karakter warga negara. Penelitian ini mengusulkan pendekatan berpikir politis (thinking politically) sebagai fondasi pendidikan kewarganegaraan transformatif, yang dioperasionalisasikan melalui model kewarganegaraan yang hidup (living citizenship). Pendekatan ini bertujuan untuk membelajarkan warga negara memahami realitas kehidupan politik Indonesia sehari-hari, memberikan kesempatan bagi setiap warga negara tidak hanya memahami aspek keanggotaan kewarganegaraan, tetapi juga aspek demokrasi kewargaan yang memposisikan warga negara setara dan memiliki hak yang sama. Kami berpendapat, pendidikan kewarganegaraan transformatif menjadi fondasi terhadap penguatan kapasitas nalar warga negara untuk menjalankan bagaimana popular kontrol (Beetham, 1997) bekerja yang diperkenalkan melalui kanal-kanal institusi pendidikan sejak awal.
